Due to the vast amount of hotels in Las Vegas, I thought it best to do a Whats Your Las Vegas Feature Hotel on the site. If you wish to visit a hotel, but want more information and recommendations from those who have actually stayed there, please email me the hotel you would like to be featured. This will be updated every month (time depending). As this is the first Featured Hotel, I have picked one which is close to my heart. So, after reading about MY featured Hotel, ask yourself - Whats YOUR Las Vegas Featured Hotel?! This Months Featured Hotel
Now it may seem strange to you - and it does to me - but I don't think I actually have a picture of the Mirage building itself! I have many a picture of the area in and around the hotel though, and the ones which relate to the reason why this is the first Whats Your Las Vegas Featured Hotel. The reason I have chosen to make this the first hotel to have featured, as this is where the amazing "wishing tree" is situated. More on that later. For now, I have put together a list of what you will find at The Mirage Hotel and Casino.
**ENTERTAINMENT** **RESTAURANTS & BARS** **SHOPPING** **AMENITIES** **ATTRACTIONS** **CASINO** **WEDDINGS** **ENTERTAINMENT** CIRQUE DE SOLEIL - LOVE The Mirage offers some of the best shows in Las Vegas. For all those Beatles fans, you have the amazing Cirque De Soleil LOVE. Although I have yet to see this, it is supposed to be one of the best Cirque shows you can see - especially for the Beatles fans! Although I cannot give you any specifics on this show, it has been highly recommended to me. However, check out Whats Your Las Vegas Show to find out others experiences to help you make your mind up about it. TERRY FATOR Again, this isn't one I have seen myself, but it is next on my list! Terry is a ventriloquist, and from what I am led to believe, one of the first to appear in Las Vegas. The performance Terry Fator does, is all accompanied by a live band, and keeps audiences laughing throughout. ACES OF COMEDY The Mirage gets some of the biggest names in comedy to perform at its hotel. From the great Wayne Brady, to the fantastic Jay Leno. Check with the hotel for more details. **RESTAURANTS & BARS**
There are a total of 6 Fine Dining restaurants in the Mirage. These are: * Japonais - a Japanese restaurant * Stack - an American Grill concept * Fin - a Chinese cuisine restarant * Kokomo's - dining in a tropical rainforest, surrounded by waterfalls and an interior lagoon * Onda Restaruant - voted the best Italian restaruant * Samba Brazilian Steakhouse - Brazillian style barbecue with unlimited portions ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As well as the 6 Fine Dining restaraunts, the Mirage also offers you 11 Casual Dining places: * BLT Burger * B.B.King's Blues Club * California Pizza Kitchen * Cravings * Carneigie Delicatessen * Paradise Cafe * Blizz * The Roasted Bean * Starbucks * Dolphin Snack Bar * In-Room Dining ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On top of all of this, the MIrage also offers Bars & Lounges, where you can sit and relax with a drink or two: * Revolution - This is what I call "The Beatles Love" bar. A great place to stop and have a drink * Rhumbar * Onda Lounge * Kokomo's Lounge * Bare - For all the adults who want to go topless by the pool, the Mirage offers an exclusive pool experience * High Limit Lounge * The Sports Bar * Dolpin Bar ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I must admit, I haven't visited all of these places, as time and money always come as a factor to me, but I would highly recommend you have a few drinks at the Revolution Bar. A "small" place, but great atmosphere. The Sports Bar is also a good place I found to sit with my mates and watch a bit of the American sport on the TVs around the top of the bar. **SHOPPING**
**AMENITIES**
Just like any good hotel should have, the Mirage offers a variety of amenities for its guests: * Concierge - to advise and assist you on ideas or details to make sure you have an enjoyable and memorable visit * The Mirage Pool - the pool is described as "a tropical paradise". And from what I have seen, I would fully agree! * Bare - the adult only pool experience * Golf - where else would you want to play?! * Bell Desk - arrange tours, shuttles, wheelchair rentals etc * Business & Services - keep track of your buiness ventures * Room Service * Trainer For A Day - this gives you the chance to become a trainer of the dolphins they have at the Mirage for a few hours * VIP Tour - learn the secrets of the Siegfried & Roy secret garden and Dolphin Habitat with a one hour tour
**ATTRACTIONS**
The Mirage Hotel offers 4 different attractions to make it stand out from the other hotels on The Strip. These - in my opinion - are a must see when you go to Las Vegas. * Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat - the place with the Wishing Tree! I will tell you more about this further on... * Volcano - a daily eruption of the volcano, which is well worth watching * Aquarium - this spans the front desk of the hotel * Atrium - situated inside the hotel, this is an indoor garden!
**CASINO**
Just like the majority of hotels in Las Vegas, the Mirage offers a vast casino, full of what you would expect! * M Life - this is the "players club" rewards programme, offering you the chance to earn benefits for all the dollars you will put in to the machines or on the tables. Well worth signing up for! * High Limit Lounge * Table Games - from Blackjack and Baccarat, to Pai Gow, Roulette and Craps * Slots and Video Poker * Poker * Race Book & Sports Book
**WEDDINGS**
If, like me, you fall in love with Las Vegas, and you are in love with your other half, then what better place to come to than Las Vegas to get married. Like a few of the hotels on The Strip, The Mirage offers you the chance to get married - including a ceremony alongside the Volcano!
WHAT THE EXPERTS HAVE TO SAY Thanks to
So, having seen what The Mirage has to offer, I now thought I should tell you about MY Mirage experience. It was at the MIrage, that a friend and I discovered the Wishing Tree, situated in the Secrect Gardens of Siegfried & Roy. Now, I am not one who is "superstitious" and believes in "things beyond this world", but believe me when I tell you that you HAVE to make a wish on this tree - and keep what you wished to yourself. The reason? The 2 things I wished for on the 2 occasions I visited the Secret Garden CAME TRUE! The first time I went, I had been single for a long time, and was longing for someone who cared for me, and who I could care for back. Now, I always seemed to fall for the wrong person, so though I would use this oportunity to wish for a nice, kind, and honest woman. I lent against the tree - and wished. The following January, a series of events took place, and I met up with an old friend who I hadn't spoken to for well over a year. It was after this meeting, that we decided to arrange a night out in our local town. Later that same evening, my friend phoned me to say he had cancelled his plans, and wanted to go out that night. So, in the space of half an hour, I was around his house ready. That evening, whilst standing with a drink watching the croud on the dance floor, a lady approached my friend and asked if he wanted to dance. He looked at me, and said "no, but he will". So I did! We hit it off really well, and a few weeks later, we were dating. The tree had WORKED! In another twist of coincidences, the friend I had gone to Vegas with, had also wished on the tree. He won't tell me what he wished for to this day, but he met his (now) fiance a few days after I met my (now) wife! Of course, I fell in love with this woman, but had to spend that summer away from her, as me and the same friend had booked to go back to Las Vegas. Sure enough, on this trip, we visited the wishing tree again. On this occasion I wished to have a little baby boy. Specific - but it is what I had always wanted. The following year, myself and my partner went to Las Vegas and got married. Whilst there, we conceived our baby. A little boy! Once again, the wish WORKED! So folks, please make sure you visit the Sercet Gardens of Siegfried and Roy, and look out for that wishing tree. But be careful what you wish for, because for me, it has worked 100%.
